Lovro Majer, a 24-year-old Ligue1 star, is being looked at by Real Madrid as a potential long-term replacement for Luka Modric, according to reports

The legendary Croatian player, now 37, is in the final year of his Los Blancos contract.
Lovro Majer is a Croatian professional footballer who was born on January 17, 1998. He currently plays as an attacking midfielder for the Croatian national team and the Ligue 1 club Rennes.

Majer was born in 1998 in Zagreb. His father, Egon, is from the Ugljan island of Preko. Majer began his football career with Dinamo Zagreb, a local team. He left the team when he was 12 years old. Majer joined the Lokomotiva youth academy in 2013.

Majer was selected for the Lokomotiva first team in 2016. Majer made his senior team debut on June 30, 2016, against Santa Coloma at Estadi Comunal in the UEFA Europa League qualifying round. Coach Mario Toki brought in Majer in place of Eros Grezda in the 76th minute. He made his Prva HNL debut on July 17, 2016, on matchday 1 against Dinamo Zagreb.

He took the place of Ivan Fioli in the 55th minute of the 3–1 defeat. He scored against Vinogradar in the second round of the Croatian Football Cup on October 25, 2016, in the 69th minute. Lokomotiva made it to the quarterfinals thanks to his goal.

Fichajes, a Spanish publication, reports that Real Madrid is monitoring Majer’s position at Rennes, a Ligue 1 team, and may make a summer move for him next year.
In the 2021 summer transfer window, the Croatian international midfielder made the €12 million move to Rennes from Dinamo Zagreb. Since then, he has played 55 games for them in all competitions, scoring eight goals and assisting 12 others.

Majer is more comfortable playing as an attacking midfielder, but he can also play as a central midfielder. The Real Madrid management, eager to find Modric’s long-term replacements, has been intrigued by this.
Modric has spent more than ten seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, making 454 appearances for them across all competitions since joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2012. In addition to winning the 2018 Ballon d’Or, he has assisted on 74 goals and scored 36 for them.
