A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered a detailed report on the list of players Real Madrid are targeting in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
It appears they are mainly targeting young players with the potential to become an asset for the club in the years to come, with Jude Bellingham emerging as the club’s priority.
The Borussia Dortmund starlet has recently starred in England’s 6-2 victory against Iran, notably scoring the all-important opener while playing a key role behind Jack Grealish’s goal at the end.
The report suggests Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Bellingham’s progress in the World Cup. The Englishman is regarded as one of the most talented young players in world football and his price is expected to skyrocket after the end of the tournament.
Los Blancos have likely identified him as an ideal long-term replacement for Luka Modric, whose contract at Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of the season.
Bellingham’s technical prowess, combined with his leadership and composure in tense situations make him a perfect target for Real Madrid as they look to shore up their ranks in the middle of the park. The youngster may also be an excellent partner for the young midfield duo of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.
However, luring Bellingham away from Dortmund will not be a walk in the park. The Black and Yellows are said to be holding out for a fortune for the services of the former Birmingham City starlet, whose value may easily reach up to €150 million by the end of the World Cup.
In addition, Real Madrid are set to face stiff competition from other European giants including Liverpool and Manchester City, who may even have an advantage due to the presence of Bellingham’s old Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland.
