In a candid interview recently, Real Madrid misfit Eden Hazard admitted that things have not gone according to plans for him at the club and he would be willing to leave if the Merengues wanted him out.
Following his honest admission, Hazard seems to be attracting suitors for a possible summer transfer. Indeed, according to SPORT, two Premier League clubs in the form of Aston Villa and Newcastle United are interested in the Belgian while Serie A bigwigs Juventus are also keen.
Hazard arrived at Real Madrid more than three years ago, signing from Premier League giants Chelsea in a deal worth over €100 million. However, the 31-year-old has failed to hit the heights expected of him, struggling with never-ending injury and fitness woes.
Hazard has looked like a pale shadow of his past and has found game-time incredibly hard to come under manager Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian had insisted that he would count on the winger regularly, especially with Karim Benzema battling injury woes but that has not been the case.
Given that his prospects at the Santiago Bernabeu look extremely bleak, an exit could be on the cards in the summer, especially as Real Madrid will be intent on getting rid of his €30 million gross yearly salary.
And Aston Villa and Newcastle United have emerged as potential summer destinations for the former Chelsea ace.
Newcastle had been credited with an interest in Hazard ever since the club saw an ownership change and are once again being mentioned as a possible suitor for the Belgium captain. Another team in the reckoning for Hazard’s capture, as per the report, is Juventus.
Hazard’s contract with Real Madrid runs until 2024 and if given the chance he would prefer to stay and fight to prove himself. But if the club wants him to leave, the Belgian would accept his fate, although an exit in January is off the table.
